NOYS is a formal exploration of audio, from an initial sound, to its recording, manipulation, and playback. It was created using Adobe Audition and experimentation therein. It can be thought of as post-structural cyber punk. Post-structural because it questions traditional music structures, cyber due to the digital aesthetic, and punk due to its simplicity and rebellious spirit. The attempt here was to conceptualize “noy”s (sound toys), bytes of audio to be manipulated and remixed into different sounds as units of musical expression, reframing our conception of music for the digital age. Many tracks were created through layering and repeating “noys”. “Probe” is one such “noy”. Play “Probe” on repeat in different media players to create different beats.
